Alan Shore from Boston Legal.  He's a lawyer, a very unorthodox one at that.  He's snarky, liberal, and commitment phobic.  He sometimes get night terrors and word salad.  He has so many mother issues, and even more father issues.  He's very afraid of being a father, because he is sure that he will be as horrible a father as his father was.  He generally will flirt with anything that moves.  He has a thing for authority.  Once he believes in something/finds a cause he will not give up on it.  He worse than a dog with a bone.  He's very protective of those he cares about and can be more than a little scary when those things are threatened.

He's currently living at Lorelai's inn in London, England and working in Boston or New York or somewhere back in the states, it doesn't really matter.  He just proposed to Lorelai and she said yes.  This goes strongly against his phobia of commitment and expect some kind of sparks to fly over that sort of thing.
