Carrick is an Imperial, age 31, native to the city of Anvil in Cyrodiil, he left his home and family at the age of 15 to seek his fortune with his brother Pinion, a Bosmer, or wood elf, age 29. Pinion was born in Valenwood, then moved to Anvil where he met his bond-brother Carrick. The two brothers travelled the world for 16 years until they became Void Rangers and members of the secretive guild Solunastra, and learned to find other worlds as well. More on this later.
Carrick is a warrior, technically a member of the Fighters Guild, but he has little training and membership is mostly a technicality allowing him to use the free lodging provided by guild halls. He specializes in long blades and blocking with light-medium armor. Pinion is a mage, and member of the Mages Guild (for reasons similar to Carrick's), and specializes in destructive and restorative spells in addition to his natural abilities as a Bosmer.
Before meeting Solunastra, Carrick and Pinion had been separated for several months following Carrick's noble oath to go out and seek a means to offer some monetary support to the woman carrying his child, a Breton waitress named Dolina, called Dolly. While Carrick joined up with a group of adventurers going to take down a bandit army, Pinion stayed to care for Dolly, and during his time with her, came to love her. Nothing ever came from their love, and upon Carrick's return with the spoils of the bandit army's defeat, Dolly accepted the money and departed North, while the reunited brothers returned to the capital city of Cyrodiil with the adventurers Carrick had befriended.
There, the two were taken in as associates of a secretive guild of underground political activists and involved in plots to spread illegal propeganda about the controversial rulers of Cyrodiil and its major allies and enemies alike, taking no sides but the side of Truth. In the atmosphere of turmoil after the death of the Emperor of Cyrodiil, the eyes of the world sought an heir, and those who knew the secrets of power behind the Emperors sought the Enantiomorph. As the political storms grew more violent, the heads of Solunastra revealed to Carrick and Pinion that the guild was keeping them close because of their resemblance to the Enantiomorph -- a parallel that promised either doom or heroism.
But the brothers had no love of power and no desire to fulfill the final element of prophesy that would elevate one of them to a real contender for the Emperor's throne. They continued to adventure with the group from the Imperial City, eventually joining a campaign into Valenwood. There, as tensions among the natives and adventurers increased, Carrick and Pinion came to a point of conflict concerning the certainty that Dolly's child had now been born (he was -- a son named Jasper), and Carrick should be trying to find them, not running around a mad forest full of elves whose loyalty historically was never reliable under ANY ruler. The ensuing fight between two with such long experience fighting as a team and equal strengths came to a stalemate where they were forced to make a choice: one could sacrifice his life and allow the other to ascend to Enantiomorph, allowing him to try to claim the title of Emperor, or...
...they could refuse the path, and be free.
They chose the latter. In doing so, they found entry into the Void, and became something more powerful than the Emperor -- true members of Solunastra, masters of CHIM, Void Rangers.
Since then, they have wandered worlds rather than roads, for reasons known only to themselves.
Yes, this is the REALLY REALLY SHORT version. The boys here are played by Ven. Their journal is rockandfeather. PBs are Richard Armitage and Tim Minchin.
