Delia was born in 1986, and raised in a single child home in a quiet suburb. She went to school, had friends, knew her neighbors, and was a generally happy kid. As far as she knew, she was completely normal. When she was 13, her father got a job in the city, and the family moved, and everything else started to change.

Once in the city, she was surprised at how different life could be. Moving at any age to such a different environment can be stressful, but at 13 when cliques are already formed, anyone who's different can see a rather cruel side of school. Once outgoing, Delia became more introverted, keeping to herself as much as she could. And when the bullying continued, strange things started to happen. It started with a fire in the girl's room wastebasket - no one had any idea how it started, and some of the other girls were accused of smoking. A few weeks later, a bully was flicking a lighter in front of her face, and it blew up, burning the boy rather severely.

Delia knew something was wrong, and went to her parents, who seemed disinclined to think there might be anything wrong with their child. Assuming it was the stress of the move, they took her to therapy, and it was during a group therapy session she learned she was adopted. She was upset, but any fit she might have been about to have was interrupted by the fire alarms - a fire had broken out in the hallway. While her parents thought nothing of it, her therapist did not, and contacted the CDC, for lack of not knowing who else to contact. Once the government learned about her, life changed drastically.

Taken by the government, she was subjected to a series of endless tests, kept in a fire proof room. She learned quickly that the more she got upset, the more danger she was in to herself, burning herself more than once with the fires that cropped up as her temper flared. Rather then try to stop it, the agency that held her tried to foster it, encouraging the flames as they hoped to turn her into a tool of some sort. She never did learn control, but at the age of 17 she did manage to escape, fleeing the cities, and avoiding people as much as possible. She managed this for a good five years, moving from small town to small town, moving any time anyone seemed to take too much interest in her.

Delia is a firebug, or a pyrokinetic, although she's got almost no control over it. She's done well to mostly hide the ability, and it's something she doesn't talk about - no one wants to be a freak, right? She doesn't know why, she doesn't know how...  What she knows is that when she gets stressed or upset, things have a habit of catching fire around her... and so far her main way of coping is to avoid stress and people as much as she can. Not the easiest thing to do when vortexed to a new world.
