General Info

-----------------------------------

Name: Eric Draven

Age: 22 (died at 21)

Eye Color: His right eye is brown. His left eye is clear and whitish.

Hair Color: Black, long, with the appearance of being constantly wet and stringy.

Physical Description: Coming in at 6'5", Eric stands taller than pretty much anyone else he comes across. He wears all black clothes, occaisonally sporting a black leather coat that he stole off of one of the four he set out to kill, Tin-Tin.  His arms are bound with black electrical tape, and cover up places where, at one point, he cut himself with a razor in a fit of grief and rage. A note-I play Eric as a mix of both comic and movie versions, therefor he also bears the thin scar across his nose and clear eye that he does in the comic.

Eric wears makeup that mimics an Irony mask. His face is painted white, but his lips and eyes are black. Thin lines extend from the edges of his mouth upward, forming an eerie harlequin smile, and similar lines extend from the center of each eyelid, top and bottom, for about an inch downward

Scars: A long, trailing scar that leads from under his left eye and over the bridge of his nose. His left eye is clear. Both injuries are linked to the fact that the back of his skull was fractured when he was thrown out the window of his apartment. His iris ruptured, causing it to lose its pigment, and the bones of his face cracked to leave the scar over his nose. On his arms are long, criss-crossing lines where he cut himself with a straight razor. He covers this up with the electrical tape that is bound around both of his forearms.

Abilities:  Eric is, by all means, a dead man. He cannot be killed directly. Any wounds he suffers quickly heal, with only a few exceptions.

Eric's gift was never meant to be shared, but he can use his healing abilities to heal others. When he does this, the next injury he recieves doesn't instantaneously heal. Instead, it heals at the same rate it would if he were still alive. In the case of a fatal injury, he heals to the point of it not being deadly before the rate of healing slows. This is all the doing of the crow that follows him around, who administers this as punishment for using his gift to help others.

The only other way that Eric can be significantly injured is if someone harms the crow that follows him everywhere. The crow is his link to the spirit world, his guide and the source of his power. If the crow is injured, he is thus injured in the same place, and heals as it does.

Eric also has the talent of psychometry, or the psychic absorption of memories through touch. By touching people or things that are charged with the events of the past, he experiences them as if he was there and takes in the emotions for himself. If anyone touches him directly after this has happened (he calls the incidents 'blowbacks') they can receive an echo of the memory as well, and Eric is powerless to stop it. He can also purposefully transfer the memories touching someone else. He can even pass on his own memories this way. These episodes leave him drained and spent, and cause him a great deal of pain, something like horribly intense migraines.

Because blowbacks happen to Eric without warning, and he can never predict what will set one off, he tries to avoid touching people whenever possible unless he knows them very well.

Personality and History

---------------------------------------------------------

The plot of the movie (partially taken from wikipedia):

The movie begins with a story told by a young girl named Sarah about the legend of The Crow. The story states that when a person dies, their soul is carried to the afterlife by a crow; however, if that person's soul is at unrest, the crow has the power to bring that person back to life so that they can right the wrongs that were done to them before they can find peace.

The night before Halloween, popularly called 'Devil's Night' in the Detroit area, rock guitarist Eric Dravenand his fiancée Shelly Webster are brutally murdered. Because Shelly had filed a petition against eviction from their loft apartment, the building owner, Top Dollar (a crime lord) sends four thugs to their apartment; they attack while Eric is out, brutally beating and gang-raping Shelly. Eric returns and is immediately hit with a throwing knife, collapsing to his knees. The gang members hold him up in front of a large window and shoot him several times, causing him to fall through the window six stories to his death. Shelly later dies from her injuries. Eric and Shelly had planned to be wed on Halloween--and were therefor killed the night before what should have been the happiest day of their lives. They leave behind Sarah, a young friend of the couple who then meets Officer Albrecht, the police detective assigned to their case.

By the first anniversary of Eric and Shelly's deaths, their murders are still unsolved and the city is still filled with crime. Sarah spends most of her time on the streets, but has become good friends with Officer Albrecht.

On the anniversary of his death, Draven returns from the dead.

He claws his way up from the ground in the cemetery where he was buried. He is met by a crow perched upon his headstone who becomes his guide between the worlds of the living and the dead. Eric staggers away from his grave, followed and at times led by the crow back to his old apartment. Upon entering the apartment, Eric is suddenly hit by blowbacks about the murders. It becomes clear that Eric has several supernatural powers, including the power to remember events that have happened to him or others by touching them or certain inanimate objects. Fueled by rage and confused by his situation, Eric becomes determined to take his revenge on the killers. He paints his face white and black like a crying opera mask, adorns his trademark clothing, and attempts to jump through the same window which previously led to his death. Grabbing onto the frame he swings out into the air, then back into the apartment, cutting his hands on the broken glass. Draven looks down at the wounds which instantly heal and realizes that he is seemingly immortal.

Guided by the crow, one of the first stops in Draven’s quest is to find Gideon, a pawnshop owner who buys from the local gang and also has the couple’s now stolen engagement ring. Gideon attempts to kill Draven, but the bullet holes simply close instantly. After torturing him for information, Gideon is allowed to leave to inform the others that, "death is coming." Eric then searches for the killers: T-Bird, Skank, Tin Tin , and Funboy . He kills them one by one, usually leaving his trademark in the form of a crow made of blood, burning fuel, etc.

During his quest, Eric meets Sarah and saves her from being run over by a car while she is skateboarding. She becomes the first person who recognizes Eric when he comes back from the dead, realizing who he is only to see he has vanished. During his quest, Eric had found Darla, Sarah’s mother in bed with Funboy ; he spares her (though not Funboy), reminding her that she still has a daughter to take care of and using another power to cause the morphine to which she is addicted to run from her arms. Scared straight, Darla returns to Sarah and tries to be a good mother. Later, Eric finds Officer Albrecht and learns that he had stayed with Shelly until she died in hospital. Eric suffers another blowback, experiencing all of Shelly's pain at once.

Sarah later goes to Eric and Shelly's abandoned loft apartment in hopes of finding him there. When he does not respond to her pleas to show himself, she thinks he no longer cares about her. However, Eric reveals himself as she tries to leave and tells her he hasn't forgotten about her. Sarah, happy to see her friend again, rushes over to hug him. He later gives her Shelly's engagement ring to remind her of himself and Shelly.

Eric in-game is played just after he's killed Funboy. He hasn't completed his quest to execute his and Shelly's murderers, and feels useless now that he is forced to sit by and wait for his chance to go back.

After going through death and coming back from it, and watching the person he loved most in the world killed and raped while he could do nothing about it, Eric is, rather understandably, not completely balanced mentally. He's about half mad, leading to enigmatic statements that make perfect sense to him and no one else. His more lucid moments reveal a person who was gentle and compassionate, but warped by the events that ended his life and the ones that came after he returned from the dead. He's bitter and melancholy, but hides this well with a facade of constant cheerfulness. If he were not to do this, he would be constantly depressed. He makes light of things to keep himself from going completely insane.

Currently

--------------------------

Eric has been holed up in an abandoned cathedral in New York for months, playing guitar, reading obsessively, and listening to records. Most of this time was also spent desperately trying not to think about Shelly, or his neglected mission. He's only now starting to get out and get to know people.
