PB: Jennifer Connelly

Birth Location: Chicago

Personality: Frankie started out as a young girl who believed that she was going to grow up to be a strong woman, someone who would make a difference to people around her. She was instilled that knowledge from her father, who taught her the meaning of right and wrong and things like how to stand up for yourself without seeming like a bully. It was those lessons that she always took to heart. Seeing her father being active in the community, being a police officer gave her the courage to do the right thing even when it was hard. She was really proud of her father and everything he stood for.

If you ask her, she’ll tell you that’s the reason she went into the army right out of high school. She wanted to make a difference but didn’t think she was ready to go into the police academy or anything like that. Being in the army made her a stronger person not just outside, but inside as well. It did good things for her, like make her less shy, molding her more into a take charge kind of soldier rather than the usual grunt type follower, but it also did some bad things to her. War changes a person, like anyone who’s been in that experience will tell you, and it changed her. Friends perished. Being forced to kill someone took its toll on her mentally, leaving her a bit shell shocked and disconnected from her feelings.

That mentality really has only gotten worse since she joined the police force. Slowly she’s become detached from everything around her. Losing her father and her husband made her a bit numb inside. She’s really good at putting on a face, smiling at the right times, even crying at the right times, but inside she doesn’t feel much anymore. To an outsider, it looks like she has as many issues as everyone else. Drinking has made her irritable, she doesn’t handle close personal relationships as well as she used to, not even with her brother.

While she was once pleasant, that’s kind of fallen by the wayside, and though she doesn’t go off on people for no reason, it doesn’t take her much to be grumpy with someone. It’s possible that not a lot of people like working with her anymore because of what she’s become. She treats generally everyone the same, a bit standoffish and though not rude, her body language makes it clear that she'd rather not be sociable unless she has to be (like if she is on the job). Whether you're a nice person or a complete douche, she'll tell you what you need to know with no sugar coating or niceties.

She’s realized that there’s no such thing as how a bad guy is supposed to look. She treats her milk man the same way she does a drug dealer or her brother. Inside she’s very self-deprecating and hard on herself, especially over critical of herself. She knows that getting into bed so to speak with the Italian mob is bad, but she doesn’t care anymore. She’s jaded and is sure that nothing’s going to change her tune anytime soon.

Personal Background: With her grandparents that were born and raised in Italy, after they both got married and wanted to make a better life for their children, and so they came into America illegally and settled in Chicago. Eventually they became legal citizens and got all their children to be legal citizens as well. They had four children all together including Francesca’s father. Santino Manadoro met Carla Taylor in college and the two were married almost right away right out of college. For them it was almost love at first sight, or at least that’s what they always told everyone.

Out of college, and just right after they had gotten married, her father joined the police academy and her mother tried to find a good job, but the only thing she could find was retail, or grocery store work, and that wasn't enough money to start a family, so they had to survive on Santino’s salary. Things became even tighter when Carla became pregnant with Francesca in 1987. Though their family was expanding they had to move into a smaller apartment to be able to live while Carla still looked for a job and eventually was able to get a job at one of the local banks and worked right up until she gave birth.

When Francesca was born, she was a fairly precocious kid like really any kids her age, and her parents raised her very much in an Italian household. They were Catholic, and so she was forced to go to Mass every week from an early age, and it’s something she still does. Her mother was the first one to come in contact with the mob, after one of the local bosses became rather infatuated with her and came to her window at the bank every week. At first she didn’t think anything of it, but the man started to buy her things that she tried to keep hidden. It wasn't that she loved him so much, it was that at the time the man was more attentive to her then her husband, who had been working all the time. She never set out to have an affair with the man, but it didn't take long before the attention she was receiving was sexual in nature (something else she wasn't getting at home) and around the time Francesca was three, she was pregnant again.

Since she was so young, Francesca had no idea that her brother might not actually be her full brother. Her parents started to fight when it became obvious that the kid might not be Santino’s child, and thought about getting a divorce from his wife, but only decided to stay if she would stop seeing the man and call it off. A couple of weeks later she assured her husband it was over. Her brother Vincent was born several months later, and to be honest he looked more like the Italian mobster then her father, though Francesca didn’t really understand that until she was older. To her it didn’t matter, her brother was still her brother no matter what. Her parents really weren’t loving towards each other anymore but they stayed together.

Francesca started school when she was old enough, and grew up rather like any other kid her age. She was a pretty good student, but nothing exceptional. When her brother started school, she decided to look after him because he got picked on when there were rumors that her dad wasn’t his dad and other things like that. She would beat up other boys on the playground and so she got in a bit of trouble as she got older until Vinnie could stand up for himself. After that she stopped getting into trouble so much and started buckling down on her school work. In high school she was into sports, but she wasn’t good enough to continue in college or anything. She graduated from high school in 2005, though she wasn’t quite sure what she wanted to do with the rest of her life.

In the end she ended up not going into college, and instead going into the military. She found herself in the army, and was deployed over in Iraq for a couple of years. During the time she was gone, her family changed for the worse. Her brother’s real father decided that he wanted Vinnie to take after him in his shoes. Up until then, Vinnie had been a bit in trouble, but nothing too bad. Santino was livid, since the man had never been there for him as a child and now all of a sudden he wanted the kid to take after him? After that, Santino decided to go after the mob. Since he was a cop, he used his job to try and take them down. Some of what he did was illegal, and he never was able to prove anything.

The Italian mob wasn’t going to take that lying down of course, so they hired a hitman and shot Santino in 2008 and killed him. A couple of months later Francesca was allowed to go home, wondering how the hell had her world turned upside down in such a short time. She was discharged from the Army not long after and took up residence in her own place in Chicago. The murder of her father had put a very large strain on her mother and Vinnie's relationship, and the two were barely speaking. It wasn't that she blamed Vinnie for Santino's death, it was just that every time she looked at Vinnie, she saw the man that murdered him. One that was still living that horrible life style. Frankie got back in touch with her brother because she felt like she kind of abandoned them and if she hadn't gone off and joined the army, maybe none of this would have happened. They started to make some amends for what happened (her leaving and her father being killed) though her mother didn't like that Frankie was back in touch with Vinnie. She didn’t disown her or anything, but their relationship wasn’t the same after that.

Since she didn’t have any college under her belt and the only thing she knew was the military, she did the next best thing and got herself enrolled in the police academy. Her brother wasn’t happy about that, but she promised him that she’d always look out for him. After police academy she became a beat cop, and that’s when she met the man who was going to be her husband. She met him at a diner, and she’d never been so charmed in her life. They started dating, and two years later they got married. Meanwhile she moved up in the ranks of the police. Frankie had never been so in happy in her whole entire life. Of course that meant bad things were going to happen.

Her brother started getting into more trouble, and though she wanted to help him, she finally couldn’t, and he went to jail for grand theft auto in 2012. She felt horrible with her brother in jail, and her mother nearly blamed her for all of it. Frankie and Jeremy decided to try for children, but she just couldn’t conceive. Jeremy was determined to stay with her, not wanting their marriage to end up like her parents, but how familiar it would all be eventually. Her brother got out of jail in 2015 for good behavior since it was his first time in and not for anything major (he'd only been an accomplice at the time of his arrest) and he started right back in with the mob yet again. Though Frankie asked him not to, instead he introduced her to some of the guys he worked with.

A couple of months later, Frankie made detective in 2016. They had a huge party to celebrate. Everything was great, and things were starting to look up. About half way through the year though, Jeremy was in a car accident, driving off the side of the road and died. They said it was an accident and that was that, Frankie was a widow. She didn’t take it well, she started to drink heavily and started hanging out late at night with her brother and his friends off the clock. Before she knew it, she was doing favors for them, looking the other way and other various sundry activities.

The mob paid her well, much more then the department ever could. She knows lots of the cops on the force are as crooked as she is. They moved her to the homicide division a couple of months ago, and her drinking hasn’t gotten any better or any worse. She just lives one day to the next, pretty bitter about her life, and not looking to make a change any time soon.

Family: Mother: Carla Manadoro

Father: Santino Manadoro (deceased)

Brother: Vinnie Manadoro

Husband: Jeremy Mills (deceased)

Weaknesses: When it comes to other people, everyone is guilty until proven innocent, it doesn’t matter who they are, and she feels that way about herself more than anyone. She drinks, sometimes on the job which hinders her performance and is probably going to take its toll if she either gets fired, hurt, gets someone else hurt or any other number of things that could happen. Her emotions are very detached though she knows how to make it look like she’s just fine (unless she’s drinking and then that goes right out the window).

A woman who was once a very good leader, and liked being in charge is pretty much a push over nowadays. People in her department can almost get away with anything and she lets them. The closest person to her is her brother and even they’re at odd ends. Though she means well she doesn’t have the follow through that she once had. Everything kind of gets half-assed done and forgotten about eventually.

Of course she takes bribes and other things from the Italian mob. She looks the other way a lot of the time, and a couple of times she’s even helped them with one or two things. Sure that means her brother is using her, but she doesn’t care anymore about that either.

Any Training: Being a police officer she knows how to use a gun, do search and seizures, arrests, gather evidence, distribute warrants, interrogation and interviewing, go through police records, give testimony in court, and other police procedures. Being in the army means she knows military procedures, and technically could be called back to service at any time.

Special Skills: None that she hasn’t learned from being in the military or the police.

Occupation: Detective for the Chicago police department

Current Residence: In a small apartment by herself
