Before the Game

Lilo Pelekai is the star of the Disney animated film Lilo & Stitch and its subsequent sequels and animated series. Lilo (literally, "lost" in Hawaiian) is a young Hawaiian girl who lives on the island of KauaÊ»i with her older sister Nani and her extended family of alien visitors marooned on Earth.  Her spirited and highly eccentric personality — especially in light of her parents' death — has somewhat alienated her from her fellow children, yet Lilo makes the perfect best friend for Stitch, an alien experiment whom she adopts as her dog. Lilo attends Hula school and her hobbies include the photography of obese people, talking about creatures from horror/sci-fi movies, and capturing and rehabilitating Jumba's evil genetic experiments.  She idolizes Elvis Presley. 

Lilo is a young Hawaiian girl with long, straight black hair and brown eyes. She's most often seen wearing a muÊ»umuÊ»u and sandals, but also wears other warm-weather clothing as well as traditional hula costumes.  Her last name, Pelekai, is a little contradictory, seeing as 'Pele' is the Hawaiian volcano goddess, and 'kai' is the Hawaiian (and Japanese) word for ocean. To this effect, the family name means "Volcano of the Sea."

Lilo's parents died in a car accident some time before Lilo & Stitch, and they have not appeared apart from a photograph: one of Lilo, Nani, and their parents having a picnic on the beach.  Lilo's mother is depicted as kind and loving (and perhaps eccentric like her younger daughter), as well as an excellent hula dancer. She would placate her children by holding a family night, singing lullabies, and making up funny constellations. Lilo's father played the Ê»ukulele and was the one who coined the phrase Ê»Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. The phrase becomes a sort of family motto for his daughters and their intergalactic adopted clan.  Lilo loves and misses her parents very much. She keeps a picture of them under her pillow and initially would not allow Stitch to touch it (rejecting him when his fight with Jumba caused her house and the picture to become damaged). Lilo and Nani are the only known living members of the Pelekai family.

The development of Lilo's Ê»ohana (extended family) begins with the adoption of Stitch in Lilo & Stitch. Though Lilo technically owns Stitch by Hawaiian state law, the relationship between the two is more like siblings and best friends.

Current Information

Lilo has been vortex'd twice.  The first time was only for a few weeks before she was returned to her world.  This made her better prepared for the second time.  This second time, she replaced an orphan in an orphanage, much to her chagrin.  However, luck was with her, and she was quickly adopted by Teague Brennan and Brenda Annn Turner.  This makes her the legal big sister of Cassidy Turner.  At first, she called them "Teague-Daddy" and "Brenda-Mommy", due to loyalty for her parents.  Stitch followed her not long after, and she wasn't phased at all by his human body.  Stitch is Stitch to her, and they're still best friends.

After the Timey-Wimey Plot

 Lilo aged up to twenty-seven during this plot.  She assumed that it would only last a week or so, like so much of the oddness in the vortex-world, but was sort of disturbed at how she remained older.  She remembers her life as she lived it: coming to call Teague "daddy" and Brenda "mom", growing up with her little brother, the fun times she and Stitch had, the knowledge she learned from her tutor Ageless Bill Turner (Lilo didn't go to normal schools).  She's an accomplished big wave surfer and competes every year.  Because of Bill's teachings and her natural curiosity, she's a voodoo priestess, devoted to Erzulie Dantor.  Bill also taught her gunplay, and she's fairly capable at defending herself. Lilo has no clue that she's grown up into an attractive woman, and tends to still be a brash, honest tomboy, faster to sock someone in the arm than be a "girlie" girl.

She's glad that she's still able to pro surf still.  She had a brief relationship with Teja Wartooth which she ended due to inherent incompatiblity problems.  Shortly after that, she found out she was pregnant.  Due to no fault of her own, she miscarried early into her pregnancy.  It lead to her and Teja having one last blowout, a fight that resulted in her being concussed and having many broken arms.  She couldn't handle the pain, both emotional and physical, and because of a trick that her relative Ageless Bill Turner left with her, she resumed being six years old.

Then Sarah realized why soap operas age up kids, and did a handwavey age up to sixteen.

State of the Now-Lilo

Lilo is sixteen and mostly keeps to herself.  She's fiercely loyal to her family, but oddly enough doesn't have many friends.  She's completely uninterested in dating and hates romantic movies.  She wears makeup as an extension of her art and hates popular music (Elvis or die!).  Her hobbies include acting out horror movies, snowboarding, and reading medical books for the gory pictures.  Her life's passions are surfing, voodoo, painting, hula, and Stitch.
