INSPECTOR MEG THATCHER is from the 1994 Canadian TV series Due South, played here by Rach. Her journal can be found at megthatcher. Her mun can be found at oracle.mun@gmail.com.
Inspector Meg Thatcher is an officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Her place in the series' timeline for those familiar with the show is after the events of Hunting Season but before the events of Call of the Wild. Her PB is Camilla Scott, who played her in the series.
Inspector Thatcher is the very model of a modern Member of the RCMP, having graduated first of her class and earning medals for field work. When she was transferred from Ottawa to the Canadian Consulate in Chicago, Illinois, she immediately began her review of all consulate personnel, including and especially Constable Benton Fraser. Thatcher and Fraser clashed at the start of her posting, what with his tendency to get involved in matters typically outside his consulate duties and her wish to keep things running smoothly, but eventually they came to respect one another. When the occasion arises for them to work together in the field, they have proven to have a solid partnership.
She is a sharpshooter with rifle and pistol, fluent in flag semaphore, loves city life, and is dedicated to her career. Of note, she has made a habit to deflect or rebuff any propositions in exchange for professional advancement, in keeping with her ideals as a Mountie.
When she first arrived, she discovered she had replaced a Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) operative named Maggie Norton. While initially at first she was relieved to have some ties to a familiar government and line of work, she soon discovered that CSIS was not interested in releasing her to be reinstated as a Member of the RCMP. In contrast, Benton Fraser was allowed to apply as a lateral entry member and underwent the retraining necessary to become a Mountie again. CSIS, meanwhile, had taken firm hold of Meg Thatcher's life, requiring her to work as a low-level analyst in exchange for which she would be allowed to reside (along with Fraser) in the flat formerly occupied by Maggie Norton. It didn't take long for Meg Thatcher to chafe under these restrictions, and she soon began investigating alternatives for herself. This led her to being hired by Knight Industries, as the new driver for Kobie, the Knight Industries Three Thousand. Yet despite the wonders available to her working with Kobie, she knew this would not be enough: it was a job, not a career, and her old career was calling to her. However, she and Fraser had agreed that she would not re-apply to join the RCMP until they were married, so as to avoid any conflict with the Force's regulations regarding fraternisation ... so they abandoned their formal wedding plans in favour of eloping, united in a civil ceremony witnessed by two of Fraser's fellow Mounties posted at the Canadian Consulate in Chicago.
