Melpomene is the Greek Muse of Tragedy. Her name means "the one that is melodious." She is often represented by the trgedy mask, and is often depicted carrying a dagger and wearing kothurnus, which were high-soled boots traditionally worn by tragic actors. She's updated this a bit - and while she still wears high-soled boots, they're generally platform combat-style boots. Her dagger is tattoo'd on her arm, and it can become an actual knife if she needs it.

Melpomene is a tiny thing - she's about 4'10'' before her shoes, which often bring her to about 5'4''. She dresses pretty goth, though  she's often rather upbeat. Or extremely emo.  She's skilled at most forms of artistic expression, but will be the first to tell you she is not an artist - what she creates may be technical perfection, but none of it has that extra oomph that makes it Art. And yes, she will argue this with you if you press.
