Michael Westen used to be a spy: that is, until he got fired.

When a spy gets fired, it gets complicated. You're dumped in whatever city the feds decide on, you have no credit, no cash, and no job history or skills suitable for your average resumé.  You have to take whatever work you can get and rely on anyone who might still be talking to you - including your family, if necessary.

In short: It sucks to be you.

Michael is something of a modern-day Robin Hood type. Initially he picked up jobs helping out regular people having issues with crooked realtors or drug rings or gun runners to make some quick cash, until his ethical and slightly more altruistic side started getting the better of him. He's vastly skilled in hand-to-hand combat, understands the psychology of bad guys probably better than they know themselves, and he's got an encyclopedic knowledge of guns, explosives, intimidation tactics and the best ways of how to kill someone without even really trying.

Michael is essentially one of the good guys; but don't ask him to really show it. That whole deep emotions thing? Yeah. That's not on his skill list.
