Navi is a character from the Legend of Zelda game Ocarina of Time.

Before the Game

Navi is a blue fairy who is Link's "sidekick" throughout the game. She is instructed by the Great Deku Tree in Kokiri Forest to assist Link in his quest to stop Ganondorf. All of the Kokiri children have companion fairies, but because Link is actually a Hylian, he never received one until Navi joined him near the beginning of the events in Ocarina of Time. She is seen departing from him at the end of the game. This event carries over into the next game in the series, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

From a gameplay perspective, Navi functions primarily as a guide that points out clues in the environment and helps the player learn the controls and advance in the game. Most of her hints are about how to progress in the story or defeat enemies. She can also be used to lock on enemies in the game, items and other characters. She is one of the few characters with any voice-acting in the series.

Current Updates

Navi looks human, and still has the job of the human she replaced (a kindergarden teacher), but she's still a fairy. Her wings retract via magic, and she can bring them out at will. When she flies, she glows blue. If you listen close enough, it almost sounds like bells tinkling when she's aloft. She's also very good at seeing things, and has the ability to be louder than most people when she so desires. She's also still good with tactics, and in pointing out information that other people need to know. She's rekindled her friendship Link after many years, and dated and got engaged to Alec McDowell.  After breaking up with him due to differences, she spent a lot of time moping before meeting Raven.  She quickly struck up a relationship with him, which resulted in their engagement. She also recently welcomed Iggy into their home, and is in the process of figuring out how to adopt him as well as his younger sister Angel.

Navi loves exploring her new human anatomy, and all the aspects of the world she's been placed into. Part of her is irked at not knowing everything like she used to, but the rest of her is glad that she has a great life with her fiancé and friends, and a chance for genuine happiness.
