Phoenix Hunter Harkness was born on October 15, 2009 to Gray and Echo Harkness, a Muggle and a half-blood witch. She is the youngest so far of five children that the couple has had as well as the youngest of the triplets that she was a part of. Her family, other than Gray and Echo, consists of Amelia and Savoya, Phoenix's older twin sisters, as well as her older sister and brother Kyra and Riley, and all of their pets. Phoenix owns a female Tuxedo cat named Tosh.

She grew up in Hogsmeade, an all-wizarding village near Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the United Kingdom and attended that school, being sorted into Gryffindor when she was eleven years old, as were all of her older siblings. Amelia and Savoya were two years ahead of Kyra, Riley, and Phoenix, making them third years when they were in their first.

When Phoenix was in her fourth year, she tried out for the Gryffindor Quidditch team's position of Seeker, and won her first game against Slytherin, a few weeks after she had gotten the position.

She is much more reserved in personality than her older siblings, preferring to spend her extra time reading or drawing the scenery down by the lake on the Hogwarts grounds. Everything pointed her to a career in illustrating books, but her Head of House at the time urged her to pursue a career in the Ministry of Magic's department of Magical Games and Sports.

Phoenix did, indeed, pursue a career in such a department after graduation from Hogwarts, and is now in charge of organizing the Quidditch World Cup every year.
