Albert, better known as Presto, was a geek until, along with friends, he was drawn into a mystic realm called the Realm of Dungeons and Dragons, and tasked to, with his friends, defeat evil and help good. He was the wizard of the group.

Presto fulfilled a role of the well-meaning, diligent, but hopeless magician. He was something of a caricature of the stereotypical "nerd" figure prevalent in early 1980s comedies. He suffered from low self-confidence and nervousness, which manifested in the use of his magical hat. He was able to pull an endless succession of various tools from it; but often these would be, or appear to be, of little use.

Examples of his occasional production of useful items included a working fire hose against a lava dragon, a weed-killer against a Shambling Mound, and an electric fan against giant hornets. There were also numerous instances when the whole group was in danger, whereupon Presto would draw from his hat precisely what was needed in order to save all of his friends. The often comic incidents were attributed to the premise that Presto was young and still coming into his own power. The user must know what he/she wants when reaching into the magic hat; as a result, Presto's indecisiveness tended to sabotage his results.

Although in one adventure Eric was blunt with Presto to believe in himself and produce something extremely powerful, to which a confident Presto made an aircraft carrier appear. He showed the power of levitation in the episode "Cave of the Faerie Dragon". Like Sheila, he attracted friends rather easily. He was nicknamed Presto even before coming to the magical Realm, because he was constantly trying to show people magic tricks that did not work. Without his spectacles, Presto would be, and has been, helpless; therefore his fear of losing them has always been very great.

Over time, Presto learned. he had to. Three years in a dangerous Realm taught him how to use the hat with skill, and how to do other magics as well, though he is yet young and not nearly as powerful as he could be someday. Still constant battle, constant need, has given him strength beyond the norm for one of his age, a mere 15 years of age.

His group never made it home, and still battle against darkness in a far off Realm, but when he saved them all from a demon, he found himself engulfed in the demon's fire and burning.

That is, until a vortex swept him up and stole him away, or a hand plucked him out of possible death, or a door opened.

Presto is not sure what happened, save he is on Earth, and safe, and his friends are nowhere in sight.
