Born Rosalie Lillian Hale in 1915, she was raped and beaten by her fiance Royce King and his friends, then left for dead. Carlisle Cullen found her and changed her into a vampire in 1933, and she took revenge on her attackers by killing them all. Roaslie has always been very proud that although she killed them, she did not drink their blood and never has touched human blood -- the only one of the Cullens other than Carlisle to do so.

Although she was beautiful as a human, Rosalie is moreso once becoming a vampire to the point that she can be overly vain. Her jealousy carried over from her previous life as well -- as a human, she always wanted a child due to her friend, Vera's son. Vampires can't procreate, so part of her always has been angry at Carlisle for "saving" her.

She is in love with Emmett Cullen, who she saved from a bear attack and brought back to Carlisle to have him change him into a vampire for her, but she never told Emmett that part of the reason she did that was because he reminded her of Vera's son. She likes the attention that Emmett gives to her, though, and enjoys getting married to him over and over. She and Emmett have been kicked out of the Cullen house for destroying it several times during sex, and so they end up living as a newlywed couple apart from the family sometimes.

Rosalie was pulled through the vortex immediately following the events of the first novel, "Twilight", and has found herself still married to Emmett who is a defensive lineman for the Seattle Seahawks. Her PB is Natalie Dormer (not the actress from the film), and she is played by Jo.
