Sable Harris

Page history last edited by Sarah 1 yr ago

Sable Harris is the (accidental?) daughter of Miniver Cheevy and Marnie Harris. She is played by Ven. Her journal is sable. Her PB is Tracie Thoms.

The Harris family of had always been a family defined by its black sheep, and Marnie Harris was no exception to the deviant heritage of her blood. Independent, rebellious, fierce, yet also hardworking and highly intelligent, Marnie, like most of her relatives, was on her own by age 17, married by 18, divorced by 19, and living a gypsy life by 20. All of which was just fine with her. She lived on the road and made her money doing any job someone would pay her to do, eventually ending up a special sort of expert in nudging her way into showbiz as a stagehand, makeup artist, backstage entertainer, and other things. Under circumstances never yet revealed by any of the involved parties, at the age of 26, she walked into the hallway lined with dressing rooms marked with the names of members of the celtic rock band Blue Muse -- and walked out an expecting mother. Nine months later, she gave birth to a daughter whose skin was milk chocolate against her Nubian dark, and named the infant Sable -- the heraldic term for the color black, and a secret clue to her father's identity -- Miniver, which is in heraldry the pure white variation of ermine.

Having a newborn put Marnie's wandering to a temporary halt, but as soon as it was clear her little girl was made of stuff as stern as her own blood, she set off again. As a result, Sable was raised a gypsy kid. Schooled by her mother and whoever they met on the road, she grew to be an artistic, quiet, book-loving girl with her father's talent, her mother's brains, and her own personal playful touch to it all. Despite the black/white heraldic naming pattern, Sable is very much the light to her father's darkness -- careless and colorful where her father is serious and melancholy. Of course, she never knows this -- nor does her paternal genetic donor. Marnie gave her daughter a gift of honesty, which included telling her what Marnie wasn't ready to tell her yet. In the end, when Sable grew old enough to have a good head on her shoulders and decide to find her own way in the world apart from her mother, she was given a riddle to solve, should she ever decide to seek out her other parent.

Sable was always good at riddles...
