Safiyah Duende was born to be a dancer. She is half Egyptian and it was no wonder that she became a bellydancer as she grew up, embracing that part of her heritage. She became a professional dancer when she was 18 years old, dancing in restaurants to make her way through college. She took to online courses when she became a member of a professional Tribal Fusion troupe and began touring.

Tragedy struck six months ago when she was in a horrific car accident that almost killed her and nearly left her paralyzed. She's only recently returned to dancing and has taken up other forms of dance to get her back to her former flexibility and conditioning before her accident.

She was picked up by the vortex as she was heading to the studio to practice.
