The thing with Samira is that she’s not a new arrival, she’s been around long enough to actually get a business off the ground and stick with it and make connections. That and she’s been around long enough to just deal whenever the bi-monthly crazy rolls around instead of freaking out. Henn credits her with ‘saving everyone a whole lot of hurt’ when the Purifiers rolled into town, because she closed down and made sure everyone got home safe, she also didn’t bat an eye when the world was going time-warpy, even when she was landed smack in the middle of prohibition, she just rolled up her sleeves and battened down the hatches and kept on keeping on.
The other thing about Sami is that she’s a naga, though she prefers ‘Lamia’ because it’s more lyrical. Which is to say, she’s half-snake and mostly cold-blooded. She’s got tiny fangs and even venom glands, but that’s a defense mechanism only. The snake-half is a rattler, and she occasionally keeps time with whatever music’s playing at the bar, just for fun.
Back home, Sami was a midwife/wet nurse/nestmother, she’s quite fond of children, though she doesn’t want any in her bar. She also rather likes pregnant women, and they’re welcome in the bar, as long as they’re not drinking. She’s fiercely protective of people she considers her new nest, which includes anyone on staff and most of their significant others. This is also why she tends to take in strays, both animal and human. All of the actual snakes at the bar (and the one Gila monster) were rescues, even Rita the boozehound python.
Samira usually called Sami, is a character I (aka: Sterling) have been NPCing for a while, she’s the owner/founder of the Snake Pit bar in New Orleans (where Henriette Stillman and Soren Skwigelf both work) and apparently because I have an actual backstory for her, sort of, some people think she should be an actual character (read: curse you Sarah! *fistshakey!*) So if anyone with pups who've been here a while want to know her, gimme a jingle, we'll work something out.
