Before Arrival

Zelos was the Chosen of Tethe'alla, a planet of waxing and waning fortune, locked like an hourglass with its sister planet of Sylvarant. Being the Chosen made him a member of the aristocracy and should have guaranteed him a happy life. It didn't.

The Chosen was born through what essentially amounted to a eugenics program, where his parents were brought together through an arranged marriage; neither actually loved the other, and both had numerous other partners. Zelos' own mother cursed his existence with her dying breath: "You should never have been born."

When Lloyd and his party arrived in Tethe'alla, he almost immediately joined them under the king's orders, and then began to ignore the king's orders when Lloyd's quest apparently became more important. During the quest to save the worlds, Zelos revealed himself to be a triple agent, working for the party, the enemy, and a terrorist group that on the bad list of everyone else, ultimately allying himself with Lloyd's party at the last minute (almost entirely because Lloyd told Zelos that he trusted him.)

Despite all this, Zelos generally presents himself as a happy person, and does have his moments. Flirting continuously with anything with tits.

After Arrival

When Zelos arrived, people were being struck inexplicably naked. Including women. This made for good times for Zelos.
